George Eastman quote

Light makes photography. Embrace light. Admire it. Love it. But above all, know light. Know it for all you are worth, and you will know the key to photography.

Ummmm... I think Eastman had a vested interest in this philosophy. However, he had a point but not an original one. Best to recap on what I have always said as Queen. Don't go into the light without first checking:
1. What part of the world you are
2. Time of day
3. The season (if there are any as I believe they don't have any in Canada)
4. The weather
5. Your state of mind
6. Your ISO rating and colour/contrast and so forth settings if digital. Adobe RGB? What good is it unless reproduced/published?
7. Is there an eclipse?
8. Any warfare/chance of dust-clouds etc
9. How to get there
10. Credit card, passport and ticket home/next place.
11. batteries and chips +iView

Where is my bejewelled camera - Canon of course + 2 x Sony R1's (have you tried them? A little limiting but soooo easy to use and a 24mm to 120 mmm fixed lens (Carl Zeiss) - so no dust! I wish Sony would pull their finger out and upgrade the R1 immediately instead of playing with Minolta amd slr's. The developed R1 could be a real world beater. I first thought this when I used their PC100 digital movie camera with still image facility. What if - we had more quality say, 10 million pixels and the same facilities inc Macro zoom that verged on being 1/2 cm away from the subject (using the flexible viewing screen). BIG close-ups of stuff which one would not ordinarily associate with. Please Sony. Hurry up.
I will swop my sceptre and a bauble.
