wedding photography more technical approach
As to previous post this is a more technical approach to shooting wedding photographs. So the shots with the bride and the car have a very formal quality. The way a photographer might work if they were doing a photoshoot for Hello or OK magazine, filming a celebrity. Of course the bride and groom are the celebrities of their own wedding. Do they want a large amount of staged shots. One can create a fantasy that is not a true representation of who they are and their personalities. I don't know the philosophy of this particular photographer and I am making no judgements either way about his work. Personally I prefer the photojournalist approach the goal being to tell the story of the day and to capture the spirit of all involved. And I felt the photographers in the previous post were doing just this. Its the telling of the story of the wedding that establishes the exciting and interesting memory of the event.

Very interesting wedding photographers
In many ways what we do with Wedding Photography is very similar. Their ideas re capturing the spirit of the event and how during the proceedings they develop a wonderful rapport with guests. We use character to achieve a similar result.

V&A Chinese New Year

Mel and Tim acting as Digital Paparazzi went to the V&A to see the Beijing Opera Monkey Troupe show. As soon as we arrived there was a dragon to see just outside. We met up with the monkey king troupe who were doing 3 shows. One demonstation in the Raphael room and then in the lecture theatre the full show and also the show of the Face changer. The Face Changer is unique even in China and not suprisingly the audience were mesmerised. The full show was the culmination of the event and were a massive success. Make sure you see this troupe before they return to China.

Ghaffar brings Beijing Opera to London 2

Ghaffar Pourazar has brought over to the Uk The Beijing Opera Monkey Troupe. Today they did a lecture Demonstration for students at the London Metropolitan University. It was a delight to watch as we could see them without makeup. I think these students were lucky to see this as it demonstrated the uniqueness of this art form. What the students could have learnt was the precise movement of Beijing Opera both internal and external. This comes from years of hard and disciplined training. It is a great shame that so few drama departments know that they are in London so many students will fail to see this wonderful Lecture demonstration and thus will fail to learn some of what is lacking in western physical theatre.
Ghaffar went from the Uk to study in China many years ago and is one of the few westerners to ever learn the Monkey King. Given that he speaks fluent English it will be a shame if not more students get to participate in this energising and exciting workshop.

Charly in Covent Garden

Charly has been performing aroung the world and in Covent Garden for many years. Originally he was a Circus performer and that shows in the range and level of his performing skills. His balancing of objects or his handstands are phenomenal. London is lucky to have this level of Street Performer. In fact the Covent Garden performers are a great attraction in London which consistently the authorities fail to recognise. They help bring people to Covent Garden and help make it the attraction that it is.

Chewbacca" arrested for head-butting"

From Yahoo News,"LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - A Chewbacca impersonator was arrested after being accused of head-butting a Hollywood tour guide who warned the furry brown Wookiee about harassing two Japanese tourists, police said on Saturday.
"Nobody tells this Wookiee what to do," "Chewie" from the "Star Wars" movies said before slamming his head into the guide's forehead, the Los Angeles Times newspaper reported.
The 6-foot, 5-inch-(1.96-metre-) tall 44-year-old man was charged on Friday with misdemeanour battery and later released on $20,000 (10,207 pounds) bail, the Los Angeles Police Department said.
"Superman" and other movie and cartoon impersonators were reported to be witnesses to the aggression in front of Grauman's Chinese Theatre amid concern that such behaviour could endanger their livelihoods."

Clowns international in Dalston

Once a year Clowns international have a church service in Dalston which is in Hackney,Loondon. I was once a member. I never went in for a lot of make up. When I first started I intuitively wanted to be as natural as possible. My choice and eventually I worked with no makeup and no obvious costume. When I worked in Men In Coats we had no makeup the comedy coming from the mishaps of false expectations.

Statues in Covent Garden

I was in Covent Garden and saw a few of the statues in Neil street. As good as those in Barcelona. A lot of hard working trying to earn a living in this manner. I certainly don't envy them. I remember doing some shows in Paris like this and the beginning as Statues was always mind numbingly boring. We used to use the statue part to gather a crowd and then we would improvise a series of sketches. Spent a summer chasing around Paris doing this with Alan who was then studying at the school of jacques lecoq. Thinking of it we had a lot of stories from those days including the time our audience was covered by flour by a crazy Parisian. Missed us. Memories.

A tasteless joke? probably not. A scam, Probably. There really needs to be a system for dealing with this sort of thing. At the end of the day some people do give away personal details. We can all be fooled at some time.
